The Best Day Ever: meeting Laura, Lilly, and Sarah Ockler

Friday, March 6, 2009

As most of you already know I had plans on Wednesday to meet Laura. Well Wednesday morning I got up early to discover an email from Sarah Ockler asking if she could come stalk the two of us! After a little bit of squealing and hand clapping I emailed Sarah back to let her know that I would be honored to have her stalk me. Now I get to share all of the lovely pics with you guys! yay! :) Sorry for making you wait so long Alea. Please don’t hurt me! ;)

I had to take a picture of the view from my train station.  This picture really doesn't do it anyjustice. The panoramic view on the Hudson and the snow capped mountains was breath taking!This was the first time I've ever gone down the the city by myself. My brother or my boyfriend usually goes with me. I was terrified of getting lost! When I first got off at Grand Central I gotreally nervous and couldn't remember which way the subways were. Thankfully, I only stayed lost for about 5 minutes!

So I got to The Strand at around 1:30 and was standing by the doors when someone can up behind me and said, "Sharon?" That someone was Sarah! eeeeh!  I was so excited and felt like a total fan girl. Sarah was very very very sweet and I felt some of my nerves settle down. Laura and her adorable daughter Lilly got there a few minutes later. Since we were all starving we decided to get a bite to eat. Sarah is a follower vegetarian which was just awesome. I actually only know one other vegetarian. Mmmm and I had the most yummy falafel for lunch! It was so good. So we had lunch of talked about various stuff, what books we liked, what books we are looking forward to, how much Alea keeps twitter stalking me, etc.

After the lovely lunch we went to The Strand to go hunting for books. This was obviously my favorite part of the day. It was so much fun going book hunting with Sarah and Laura. We sat down on the floor by the arcs and started digging around. Sarah took a bunch of pictures of us in there so go bug her if you want to see them. ;) Between the three of us we filled up one of those double decker cart thingies that they have at The Strand. Sarah told me that I'm a bad book buying influence so yay! I love being a bad influence. I'm not even sure how long we were in the store but just flew by! I totally spent more money than I was planning on, but I got some great books so it was totally worth it.

Okay Ok I know you guys just wanna see the pics so now I will share the ones that Laura took with her cell:

There was no way either of us was going to let Sarah get away without signing our books! Not that she had a problem signing them. If she had I totally would have kidnapped her.

Me grinning like an idiot with my copy of Twenty Boy Summer. I'm only on page 22 right because I'm afraid to take it out of the house with me now that it has such a lovely signature.

Speaking of signatures here is mine:

Sharon

Thanks for the fun date in New York!I will look for you during the Twenty Zombie Apocalypse! Happy reading (you bad book buying influence!)! xxoo Sarah Ockler

Zomg don't you guys just love it? I asked Sarah to write someone about zombies and even though she doesnt like zombies (hmph!) she was still a good sport. So I think I can forgive her for not being on team zombie.

Last but not least my favorite picture. Lily, Sharon (me!), and Sarah. Isn't Lily adorable? She was such a sweetie. I totally look like a giant in this picture. Sarah next time you have to wear some stilettos. Ew and I have major hat hear in this picture too.

As you all can see there is one person missing from all of these pictures. Silly Laura was camera shy. I don't know why because she was totally adorable too.

Many thanks to Sarah, Laura, and Lily for making this Wednesday one of the best ever! {{hugs}}
