Blue Bloods:
Within New York City's most elite families, there lurks a secret society: its members are powerful, wealthy - and unhuman. They are the Blue Bloods, an ancient group of vampires.
Schuyler Van Alen has never fit in at her prestigious New York City private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes to Prada and pearls. But when she turns fifteen, Schuyler's life changes dramatically: haunted by the death of a classmate, she craves raw meat and finds herself the romantic interest of Jack Force, the most popular boy in school. As one discovery leads to the next, Schuyler finds herself drawn into the elusive social circle of the Blue Bloods-and a mystery that threatens to destroy them all.

Masquerade:
Schuyler wants an explanation for the mysterious deaths of young vampires, and travels to Italy in the hope of finding the one man who can help - her grandfather. Meanwhile, back in New York, glamorous Blue Bloods prepare for the Four Hundred Ball - an exclusive gala hosted by the city's powerful undead - but it's at the after-party masquerade that the real danger lurks. Hidden behind the masks is a revelation that will change the course of a young vampire's destiny.
Revelations:
Schuyler's heritage is under scrutiny: is the young vampire in fact a Blue Blood, or is the sinister Silver Blood coursing through her veins? As controversy swirls, Schuyler is stranded in the Force household, trapped with her nemesis, Mimi Force, and her forbidden crush, Jack Force. But when an ancient center of power is threatened, the Blue Bloods need Schuyler on their side. Romance, glamour, and vampire lore collide in Melissa de la Cruz's best-selling Blue Bloods series.
Thoughts:
This is the second vampire series I have read this year. The first was Vampire Academy which I thought was just amazing. Sadly the Blue Bloods series did not leave me with the same happy feelings. I might not have even read the second book in the series had it not been sitting on my shelf already. The good thing though is that the Blue Bloods greatly improves by the third book.
The problem with Blue Bloods #1 was just that there was too much designer brand name dropping. I get that these characters are obscenely wealthy and I do not need to know about every piece of clothing they are wearing. I buy most of my clothes at Kohl's and Walmart, so all of those names meant nothing to me. If I wanted to read about what designer clothes people are wearing, I would pick up a copy of People magazine.
The creepy incestuous relationship between Jake and Mimi was also a source of displeasure. It started to read a little bit like one of those V.C. Andrews books from back in the day. Another problem with Blue Bloods is that never answers any questions! It was obviously meant to be the first book in a series, but you cannot leave the readers hanging like that. I think that Masquerades and Blood Blues should have just been one book put together.
Masquerades was a little bit better than Blue Bloods. This was the book that made me fall in love with Schuylers character. Schuyer is by far the most likable character in this series. Mimi is a Bitch, Jake is a wimp, Oliver is whiny, Bliss is annoying, and the other characters aren't even worth mentioning.
Revelations was by far the best book in this series. I have to admit thought that some of the vampire stuff in this series confuses me. I didn't find it as easy to understand as the Vampire Academy series. Maybe that is because the vampires in the Blue Bloods series are a lot more complicated. Lucifer, silver bloods, yada yada. It got to be slightly confusing after a while!
The ending of Revelations was just WOW. I'm dying to know what happens next!
I would describe this series as a guilty pleasure. Think of it as similar to the Luxe series, but with vampires instead of debutants.

Awesome review(s)! I really did hate the name-dropping as well (Go Target/Kohls!), it just wasn't interesting. The third book definitely left me wanting more as well!

I read the first two and neither impressed me much, but since you have such a positive view on the third one, i might just have to read it!

So... there's LESS brand name-droppings by the third book? Huh, I might actually consider reading more than the first book after all.
