An ancient prophecy divides two sisters-
One good...
One evil...
Who will prevail?
Twin sisters Lia and Alice Milthorpe have just become orphans. They have also become enemies. As they discover their roles in a prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other, the girls find themselves entangled in a mystery that involves a tattoo-like mark, their parents' deaths, a boy, a book, and a lifetime of secrets.
Lia and Alice don't know whom they can trust.
They just know they can't trust each other.

Thoughts:
Ehhhh! I really wish that I could just gush about Prophecy of the Sisters. I wanted to love this book. I think that the main problem for me was that it was that the pace was just too slow. I spent a lot of time reading and waiting for something exciting to happen. Stuff eventually does happen, but now until the last 1/4 of the book.
I also had a hard time getting into some of the characters. James in particular was a sore spot for me. He just kind of shows up randomly to kiss Lia and than disappears again. Lia was also a little blah for me. I never got a true sense of her personality because she was so busy thinking about her sister Alice all of the time. It would have been kind of cool to see of the book story through the point of view of Alice.
The setting was honestly the best thing about Prophecy of the Sisters. Michelle Zink managed capture that infamous dark mood that is present in many other gothic novels. I also found the whole prophecy to be rather intriguing. I was worried at first that I would get confused by what the prophecy is and what it means. However, it was explained in a way that was very easy for me swallow.
Prophecy of the Sisters is the perfect book to read in bed on a rainy day. I would recommend it to fans of supernatural and gothic novels. It might not be my favorite book this year, but I'm definitely going to be reading book two.
