Catterview with Chelsea Campbell, The Kitten, and Teisel
Thursday, November 5, 2009
Welcome to Catterview Thursday! This week I'm featuring ya debut author Chelsea Campbell, and her two cats, The Kitten and Teisel. Here is how Chelsea described her cats: The Kitten is a cheerful, fun loving and affectionate black cat. Teisel is very creepy but can be real sweet when he isn't trying to bite or scratch you. Despite their difference both cats are the best of pals. On the the interview:The Kitten:
1. What do you think of the negative stereotypes about black cats?
In our neighborhood, there are ONLY black cats. One time a non-black cat showed up and was found dead in our yard. You don't mess with black cats. Also, you don't want me crossing your path when you're going down the stairs, because I'll probably trip you as I zoom by.
2. Where is your favorite place to nap?
On top of the dryer or on somebody's lap, or in the dent in the couch--anywhere, really, as long as I can find a pillow like object to support my head.3. What is your preferred method of waking up your humans in the morning?
Going "Screee!" in my awful, high-pitched voice.4. What is your favorite human food? (one of my black cats loves pizza!)
Chicken juice. Humans love guzzling chicken juice, right? Also lettuce or spinach.
5. Will you be wearing a Halloween or other holiday outfit this year?
5. Will you be wearing a Halloween or other holiday outfit this year?
I am a ninja every day of the year. I need no costume!
Teisel:
1. Why are you so grumpy? Did you have childhood issues? Were you weened to early? Did you fight with your mom? Did you father
having a drink problem?
MRAW!!!! There are no problems. I am FINE. I don't have parents, I was born out of thin air because I'm so special and great. That's why I don't fit in with other cats--they're all weird and they don't get that I'm better than them. You know who doesn't get that I'm better than them? That orange cat that tried to live here, but I sure showed him. And I kept showing him for months after he was gone! But you never know where he could be lurking, trying to steal my love. Love that I DON'T NEED because I am too special and important to need love. I am above all that.2. How do you really feel about The Kitten?
The kitten is one of the only cats I can stand. He's my BFF but he's also like an annoying little brother who tackles me every time I squeeze through the cat door, and I have to put on a brave face for him all the time. I can't be seen being held or enjoying affection from anyone if he's watching--I have to set a good, strong example. Also now that he's around, I feel too old to play with toys. So instead I lurk near where he's playing and watch him have fun but NEVER join in. That would be wrong. Hanging out with him gets tiring, and sometimes I just want to lock myself in a The Kitten-free room for hours and hours.
Chelsea:

1. Which one of your cats is your favorite (you know you have one) ?
Hmm. I tend to think of Teisel as my favorite, because we've had him longer. He's also very weird and interesting, but "weird and itneresting" sometimes translates to "annoying as hell," and then The Kitten is always there, being sweet and innocent and following me around the house like he's in lurve with me, and then I lean towards him being my fav. Realistically, though I hate to officially choose, Teisel probably is my favorite.2. When your book becomes a bestseller are you going to start feeding your cats expensive high-end cat food?
I was already feeding them Evo, which is "ancestral diet" food. It's a bit more expensive than regular food, but they also don't eat as much, so it lasts longer. Teisel loved it, but I think The Kitten was allergic to it. He had some breathing and coughing issues that seem to have gone away after switching their food to non-turkey based catfoods. So, probably I will not get expensive cat food, unless it's seafood based, lol.
3. Do you buy holiday gifts for your cats?
No! When I was a kid I wanted to get a present for our cat, and my parents obviously thought that was the stupidest idea ever and that made me feel really dumb, so since then I've been all, "Giving presents to animals at Christmas is stupid, meh! They won't even appreciate it, so I shouldn't bother."
3. Do you buy holiday gifts for your cats?
4. Do you think that you will ever become a crazy cat lady?
No, Teisel wouldn't let me. He loves dogs and people, but has serious social issues with other cats.5. If you could get married to your cats, would you?
Hmm. I wouldn't marry The Kitten. He's too childlike and dependent (though he is good at killing spiders--he has that going for him). But Teisel would probably be all grouchy and like MAKE ME A SANDWICH, but at the same time would be so gorgeous and charming that I might be too busy swooning to realize he'd make a terrible husband. But realistically, no, I wouldn't marry my cats.To find out more about Chelsea Campbell and her upcoming novel check out her website.
