Best and Worst Young Adult Books of 2009: #3
Wednesday, December 16, 2009
Last year I revealed my top 5 books of 2008. This year I've decided to change things up by picking my top and bottom 3 picks for 2009. The books on the top were some of my favorite books published this year. The books on the bottom were well...not loved much. Feel free to join in the fun and make your own best and worst 2009 post. I'll be back here next Wednesday with #2.
Best of 2009 #3:
Castration Celebration by Jake WiznerI am fully aware that most people probably won't pick this book for there top of 2009 list (they should) , but I'm a complete and total weirdo. Castration Celebration was freaking funny. It made me laugh out loud and question my sanity. I cannot think of any other book that I've read that made me think I need therapy for enjoying it. Oh! and there is a song that makes fun of Twilight. That makes Castration Celebration an automatic win!

Immortal by Gillian Shields. I think this is probably the kind of book that most parents don't want their kids reading. teehee Maybe that is why I love it so much!
You can find my review here.
My #3 pick from last year was The Hunger Games.
Worst of 2009 #3:

*Scratches head* What was this book about again? That my friends it the reason why this is my pick for one of the worst books of 2009. It was impossible to figure out what exactly this book was supposed to be about! Immortal was just a mess. All of the character were flat and the romance was completely unrealistic. To make matters worse, there is a sequel coming out! A flipping sequel!
I'm not even linking to my review for this one because it isn't worth your time. Go read Castration Celebration instead!

Best YA had to be Perfect Chemistry. And you know what my worst YA is- Hush, Hush followed by Fallen.

Haha, this is an awesome idea! I haven't read either of these books, but I definitely want to read Castration Celebration. Looks hilarious.

I really want to read Castration Celebration, and may give Immortal a try... I mean, that cover is just gorgeous and I'm always drawn in by beautiful covers. But I won't make any big effort to get it, lol. If I have any free time, I'll give it a shot.
Can't wait for the next two posts! I like this idea!

I've been avoiding Immortal thanks to your review, it does sound like a mess. It's been at the bottom of my TBR pile for months, hehe.

I love this post! Great idea!!
I haven't heard much about Castration Celebration, but I guess I'll have to look out for it :) As for Immortal, I guess you kind of can judge a book by the cover...

...and I really wanted to read Immortal! Haha. Hmm, I already have a copy so I might as well read it and see for myself if I'll like it or not. :)

Great idea to do this. I missed your review of Castration Celebration the first time round, so just checked it out now and I'm thinking I will need to read that. Luckily I'm not easily offended in the least, so I think it sounds like one for me.

The Mediator by Meg Cabot: Suze is a girl who can see ghosts and consequently falls in love with the very hot one living in her bedroom. Hilarious and sarcastic at the same time as being dark.
