E. Lockhart Blog Tour and Giveaway.
Friday, December 11, 2009

Welcome to the next stop for the E. Lockhart blog tour celebrating the first three Ruby Oliver books and the fourth title, Real Live Boyfriends, which comes out in December 2010. I'm also going to be showcasing the brand news covers for The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, and The Treasure Map of Boys, and Real Live Boyfriends. All four have been revealed at the other blog stop separately, but I'm going to be posting all four of them. You can find a list of other blog tour stops after my Q&A with E. Lockhart.
Q&A with E. Lockhart:
1. Are there any feline characters in your Ruby Oliver books?
In The Boyfriend List, Ruby dresses up for Halloween as a black cat: fishnet stockings, black mini skirt, fake fur jacket. This guy Finn dresses up as a Black Panther, but he's done a bad job with his costume and looks like a kitty cat, too. Only stupid.
He asks Roo to help fix his makeup-- and good comes of it: their flirtation is the beginning of the end of Ruby's reputation.
There are no live cats in the Ruby books. However, there is a great Dane. Also, two llamas, many penguins and a pygmy goat.

2. Do you have any pets? If so can you briefly describe them?
I have two ancient tuxedo cats. They are siblings and don't like each other much.
Pongo is cuddly, dignified, arthritic, social. His good looks are fading. He is a tyrant.
Mercy is rotund and deeply shy and loyal. She wears her tail curled in a particularly adorable fashion.
3. Are you working on any new book series?
The fourth and last Ruby Oliver book comes out December 2010. It's called Real Live Boyfriends. I will miss writing Ruby so much!
After that, I don't know. I don't have another book for teenagers, much less another series. I have ideas gestating, but they are not ready yet. THere has been a lot of pressure since The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. It's a little paralyzing.

4. What is your favorite book read in 2009 so far?
5. What advice would you give to a teen dealing with panic attacks?
Seek professional help. There is no shame in it.
6. If Ruby was here right now what question would she ask you?
She'd want to know where I got my ring. It's a jumbo-size cocktail ring made of amethyst. I am wearing it because I'm writing this right before going to a party. It used to belong to my great aunt. Ruby is a big vintage clothing person.
Many thank to E. Lockhart for stopping by today. The cover for Ruby Oliver book four:

December 8th: The Story Siren
December 9th: The Page Flipper
December 10th: Cheryl Rainfield
December 11th: Me me me! :D
December 12th: Park Avenue Princess and Royal Reviews
One lucky U.S. winner will win the first three Ruby Oliver books: The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, and The Treasure Maps of Boys.

Great interview!! Thanks also for posting all 4 covers. I've been keeping a few of the week's earlier blog posts unread in my Google Reader since for some reason the images wouldn't come up on my work computer so was gonna check on my laptop back home. But all four showed up here so I can finally uncheck those posts. I really love the new covers, but the old ones were just so cute and original!

Oh my word! I would so LOVE to win this contest. I read one of the Ruby Oliver books, and I absolutely loved it. It was hilarious, and not many books that I read can get me to laugh as hard as I did reading The Boyfriend List. Unfortunately, my library does not own the rest of the Ruby Oliver books, so I can't read the rest.
Thanks for entering me,

Awesome contest! I've read all three books, but I don't actually own them. I remember reading the 1st book back when I was in 10th grade in high school. That was in 2005!

I'm not really looking for a golf blog that focuses on instruction or equipment, but rather one that focuses on the PGA Tour. One written by someone that works on the Tour would be cool too.
