I did a lot of book purchasing this week! I got two gifts cards as early Christmas gifts. People know not to buy me specific books by now because my collection is so big and I'm picky. At first I had a hard time deciding what to get because my wishlist is mostly made up of books that aren't even out yet. That was until I found this list of young adult dystopian novels. I considered myself to be rather well read in ya dystopian lit until I saw how huge this list was. I haven't even made a dent in this list! It was very difficult deciding which books to order but in the end I decided to start with the 1990's and contemporary books.
from pbs/bookmooch:

The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick- odd name

Uzeful Idiots by Jan Mark- Love this title!

Leaving Simplicity by Claire Carmichael
Bought:

Tomorrow, When The War Began by John Marsden

Relentless by Dean Koontz-yes I'm still a Koontz fangirl

Poison Study by Maria V. Synder- Yan made me buy this and I'm so glad she did! Whoops I ordered two of these by mistake. haha O_O
for review:

Scarlett Fever by Maureen Johnson- this arrived randomly. I haven't read the first book or had much interest to until now.
I'm still waiting for a bunch of books to come from barnes and noble and paperback swap. I cannot wait for them to come already! It is a good thing I just got a new 6 foot bookshelf for Christmas!

why must you mess with my head knowing that I prefer the old over for Scarlett Fever!

I prefer to old one as well! I got the new one in the mail, and I was like, "Oh...it's nice...but WHERE'S SCARLET?"
And oh my word, the Tomorrow When the War Began series is amazing! Seriously amazing. I had no idea they were re-released with new covers. Now they look more like adult books than YA.

I absolutely adore Marsden's Tomorrow series (it's absolutely fascinating, and the characters are so compelling) and it follow-up series, The Ellie Chronicles. The books just keep getting better as both series progress. I hope you love them, too! Useful Idiots is high on my list of reading for the new year, as well.

WOW! That is a heck of a YA Dystopia List. My daughter and I once started The Last Book in the Universe. It was heavily inspired by A Clockwork Orange (which I haven't read). It was very interesting!
